“Please do not forget that we have risen to the heights that we find ourselves at today because of the applause our films (on which we worked together) got from fans in theatres.

“To us, cinema is like God. God can be omnipresent but then, he will be respected only if he is found in a temple called theatre. That is where the imagination and hardwork of creators get recognition.

“I am someone who understands the difficulties of producers. However, if you choose to reconsider your decision, your name and fame will continue to last as long as cinema lasts,” he said.

Hari’s appeal comes in the wake of a fierce debate that has been stirred up by Suriya’s decision to release his film on the OTT platform, Amazon Prime, instead of releasing it in theatres.
