Heavy landslides, flash floods leave Karthi’s Dev unit stranded without food in Kulu, Manali!

The entire film unit of Dev, which features Karthi and Rakul Preet Singh in the lead, is stranded in Kulu Manali without food, after the region was hit by heavy landslides and flash floods.

Heavy rains last night threw life completely out of gear for people across the state of Himachal Pradesh.

Sources close to the unit say that Karthi was supposed to join team of Dev yesterday. The other members of the team, numbering around 140, had been working in Manali for the last four days.

Karthi, who found himself stranded because of flash floods in the region, said, “We actually had to shoot particular scenes in the ambience of rainfalls or snowfalls. Apparently, things were perfect with gentle rains and even the weather forecast didn’t have an alarming situation. However, that was until yesterday. The situation worsened with unceasing landslides and floods. Huge rocks started rolling down the hills and hampering vehicular traffic and movement. I was stranded inside the car for nearly 4-5 hours and was later advised to stay in a nearby village for my safety. What’s worrying is that around 140 members are stranded atop the mountain without food or communciation.”

With the roads blocked due to landslides, local authorities have given a tentative report that it would them at least take 28 hours to clear the debris and thereby facilitate any vehicular movement.

Such an unforeseen disastrous natural calamity in Himachal Pradesh is happening nearly after 23 years. The unit says that this natural disaster has resulted in a loss of nearly 1.5Crore for producer S Lakshman of Prince Pictures.

Dev is an action adventure thriller featuring Karthi and Rakul Preet Singh in lead roles with Rajath Ravishankar wielding the megaphone and Harris Jayaraj composing music.
