Nadigar Sangam initiates action against Madras Enterprises, the producer of 96!

The South Indian Artistes Association, better known as the Nadigar Sangam, has initiated action against Madras Enterprises, the production firm that produced the superhit film 96, which stars Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha in the lead.

The Nadigar Sangam has resorted to the move as producer Nandagopal of Madras Enterprises still has not paid actor Vishal the complete sum promised to him for his work in Thupparivalan.

Madras Enterprises has also not paid actor Vikram Prabhu what it owes him for his work in Veera Sivaji and more importantly, it hasn’t even paid actor Vijay Sethupathi his dues for the work he did in the superhit film, 96.

In a statement issued today, the Nadigar Sangam asked its members — both actors and actresses– not to extend any co-operation to any events or films that the production house was associated with.

“Actors have always been helping producers overcome the difficulties they face during the release of a film by forgoing their salaries. Some producers, however, mistake this altruistic act of the actors to be a sign of weakness and have made it a habit to put them in a compelling situation. They either put the actors in a difficult situation or do not pay even the salary that is due to the actor. To bring an end to this problem, the administrative committee of the Nadigar Sangam met and decided that no co-operation be extended by the members of the association to any production house behaving in such a fashion,” it said.
