At a time when big franchises seem to be falling prey to the evil designs of vicious feminists, comes a film from director Destin Daniel Cretton that is truly worthy of being shown to boys.

A film whose story shows that sacrifice and heroism go hand-in-hand. A film that does not put down men and boys to glorify women and girls. A film that has soul and spirit. A film that shows that heroes lead lonely lives not because they want to but because they fear hurting the ones they love the most by being close to them.

This is a story told with a lot of heart and conviction. And just for that, Destin Daniel Cretton wins brownie points.

The film, which is the fourth in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spider-Man series and the 38th in the MCU Spider-Man film series, has Peter Parker continuing to protect the city of New York, with his identity strictly under wraps.

Being a hero means being at the top and being at the top means being lonely. Peter Parker knows this truth better than most. The good natured person that he is, he chooses to stay away from his dear friend and the girl who has his heart, fearing his proximity to them might put them in danger. Although they don’t remember him, he continues to religiously follow their day to day activities.

As crime rate plummets and the city police begin to smile because of having literally very little to do, comes a threat that neither has a face nor a body — or at least that is how it seems.

What’s more, the powerful superpower seems to have the ability to jump from one human body to another and to possess and control the mind of the body it enters.

To make matters worse, Spiderman finds that he isn’t in absolute control over his superpowers and that the spider DNA in him can turn him into a monster for the sake of self-preservation.

Will a struggling Spiderman, who is desperate to control his superpower, be able to take on this new superpower threatening New York City? Spiderman: A Brand New Day gives you the answers.

The film is a delight to watch. There is not a single moment in the film that feels boring. Brett Pawlak’s cinematography is simply amazing and leaves you in a state where you don’t feel like taking your eyes off the screen.

Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man simply hogs the limelight. The actor slips into the character so effortlessly that you forget for those two and a half hours that what you are watching is a film and that there can be no individual with such super powers.

Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal and Sadie Sink too come up with commendable performances as well. Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk in particular, is exceptional in this film. On the whole, this film is a must watch.
