Review: Idli Kadai
The film is rooted in realism and reminds you of your responsibility to return to your roots. It takes you on a trip down memory lane, often reminding you of the peaceful and fulfilling lives we led as children, thanks to the wisdom of our parents who had their priorities in order.

Analysis:
Dhanush comes up with a heart-touching tale that sends across not one but several significant messages to the audience. Without being preachy, the film gently makes one understand that our parents are not going to be with us forever and that we need to spend as much time of our lives with them when they are around instead of brooding over their loss after they are gone. It shows how we accord importance to more insignificant things in life like jobs and a fancy lifestyle while being under the impression that our parents are going to be with us forever and that their needs can be met at a later time.
The film is rooted in realism and reminds you of your responsibility to return to your roots. It takes you on a trip down memory lane, often reminding you of the peaceful and fulfilling lives we led as children, thanks to the wisdom of our parents who had their priorities in order.
It speaks of how violence can never be the solution to any problem and how fulfillment and satisfaction don’t lie in materialistic entities but in spending time with loved ones while they are alive and well.
Full marks to Dhanush for telling a much-needed story with so much of conviction and in such an entertaining fashion.
Performances:
Every single actor in the film has delivered what was expected of him or her. Measured, neat performances from Rajkiran, Dhanush and Nithya Menen make the film a really impressive one. Every emotional scene really moves you and reminds you of some incident in your own life.
Parthiban, who plays a cameo, comes up with a sparkling performance in his own inimitable style. Arun Vijay and actor Sathyaraj, as always, deliver what is expected of them.
G V Prakash’s music is simply fantastic. His background score in particular really elevates the mood of the film, becoming an integral part of every scene. The songs too have really meaningful lyrics.
Verdict:
This film is a winner without doubt! Every aspect of this film is highly enjoyable. Easily one of the best films to hit screens this year. This is a clean, good entertainer that one can watch with one’s entire family. Dhanush, take a bow. You really deserve every bit of this four-star rating being given for this film!
