The action in this instalment is mind-boggling as the High Table, represented by the Marquis, sends a lethal team of deadly assassins after John Wick. The much-awaited fourth instalment of the immensely popular ‘John Wick’ series lives up to expectations, with director Chad Stahelski delivering a sensational action entertainer that has class, content and explosive action.
John Wick: Chapter 4, the fourth instalment in the franchise, has Keanu Reeves returning as John Wick to take on the High Table’s ruthless and sadistic emissary, Marquis (played by Bill Skarsgard), who believes that Wick must die for killing the Elder, as an act of revenge against the High Table. The killing of Wick, Marquis says, is necessary to maintain order in the outfit.
The action is mind-boggling as the High Table, represented by the Marquis, sends a lethal team of deadly assassins after John Wick. What’s more, the task of killing him is entrusted to visually challenged but immensely skilled assassin Caine (Donnie Yen), a good friend and old associate of Wick himself. Caine is threatened that he will have to carry out the task or lose his daughter.
With no option left, Caine follows John Wick wherever he goes, looking to end not just his story but also those who have accorded him sanctuary.
For Wick, the challenge this time is doubly difficult. He has a good friend who has now been ordered to kill him. How does he not kill his friend and at the same time stop his friend from killing him? How does he get even with the Marquis, who represents the High Table? John Wick 4 gives you the answers to all these questions and more…
The film has some sensational fight sequences that are bound to thrill and delight you.
In particular, there is a fantastic fight sequence between Caine (Donnie Yen) and Shimazu Koji(Hiroyuki Sanada), two exceptional fighters, when Caine, in search of Wick, arrives at the doorsteps of Koji in Osaka. The fight, which takes place with both guns and blades, is bound to bring you to the edge of your seats and have your heart thumping.
John Wick is not just about blind brutality. Admitted, it does have blood being spilled often. But then, it also has a meaningful story that stresses the significance of friendship and loyalty.
If you are an action lover, this one is bound to delight you as the story moves from country to country, continent to continent. It travels from New York to Morocco to Paris to Osaka to Berlin.
The first part of John Wick which released in 2014 earned $86 million while its next part John Wick: Chapter 2, which released in 2017, made $171.5 million. The third instalment in the franchise,John Wick: Chapter 3, which released in 2019 outdid Part 2 and made $327.3 million. John Wick: Chapter 4, which has just hit screens, is sure to make a lot more than its predecessor. Sadly though, it does look like this will be the last part of the franchise.
