Censor Board officials, who cleared director Shankar’s eagerly awaited action entertainer Indian 2 for release, have complimented the film unit.

This was disclosed by actor Kamal Haasan, who plays the lead in the film, which is to hit screens on July 12.

Participating in a press meet called by the film unit on Saturday, Kamal Haasan said, “Director Shankar had sent me a message saying that everybody who watched the film in the Censor Board liked the film.”

Indian 2, the second instalment in the Indian franchise, was recently cleared with a U/A certificate by the Censor Board.

“They (Censor Board officials) usually don’t talk much to anybody. Only for certain films, they feel and share their feelings as human beings. I expect more such moments like this will come for this film,” Kamal Haasan said.

Soon after Kamal spoke, director Shankar explained what had happened in detail. “After the film, I spoke to them about the cuts and came back. After that, the producers of the film went and spoke to them. It is at that time that the officials shared their opinion about the film. They said that the film had come out well.”

While discussing the cuts, I had drawn their attention to the fact that they were giving the film a U/A certificate and therefore, asked them why not allow a particular scene they wanted to cut. They replied to my team,”The film has come out well and families will be watching it. Why do you want this scene? Therefore, I let it go.”
