Director Eashvar Karthic comes up a financial thriller that isn’t perfect but is never the less enjoyable.

The film’s plot revolves around a banker called Surya (Sathyadev), who looks to lend a helping hand to his sweet heart Swathi (Priya Bhavani Shankar) when she commits a blunder while clearing a cheque. Swathi’s blunder results in the sum getting credited to another customer who refuses to return the money.

Sathyadev has resorted to unethical practices to stay afloat before and he decides he will employ his knowledge in banking and his understanding of the loopholes in the system to save save his girlfriend. What he does gets his girlfriend off the hook but then, it throws up another set of big problems for him. What that is and how the man resolves it is what the film is all about…

Director Eashvar’s plot is refreshing and new and that is what makes the film entertaining. However, it has a problem. The banking processes shown in the film aren’t explained in the manner they should be. Also, logic goes for a toss occasionally. But despite its flaws, the film manages to not only get your attention but also has you on the edge of your seat on a couple of occasions.

The film has neat performances coming in from all its lead actors. Sathyadev looks the typical middle class banker who is ready to flirt with danger occasionally to stay afloat. Priya Bhavani Shankar seems to be growing in confidence with each new film and she delivers a neat performance as Swathi in this film. Daali Dhananjaya looks menacing in the first half and shows another shade in the second — quite a difficult task but a job reasonably well done. Sunil comes up with another memorable performance as the side kick of the main villain. Sathyaraj as ever brings liveliness and entertainment with his brief but significant performance.

Verdict:
Zebra is a reasonably good entertainer that is worth a watch.
