One of Kollywood’s well known heroes, Shaam, will next be seen playing the lead in a film titled ‘Asthram’.
Sources close to the film’s unit say that the film will now hit screens on February 21 this year.
The film has created a buzz as its Tamil Nadu theatrical rights has been acquired by Five Star, a distribution house that has been delivering hit after hit. What is remarkable is that the theatrical rights of some of last year’s biggest superhits including ‘Parking’, ‘Maharaja’, and ‘Garudan’ were all bought by Five Star.
The film, which has been produced by Dhana Shanmugamani for Best Movies, is a crime-investigation thriller. Apart from Shaam, the film will also feature model-turned-actress Niranjani in the lead.
Directed by Aravind Rajagopal, who is making his debut in feature films after a decade of experience in short films and acting, the film will also feature actors Nizhalgal Ravi, Aroul D Shankar, Jeeva Ravi and Ranjith DSM.
The racy and engaging thriller is based on a story penned by Jegan M.S. It has music by Sundaramoorthy, known for his work in Airaa, 8 Thottakkal, and Bommai Nayagi and cinematography by Kalyan, who worked on Jackson Durai.
Boopathy, who previously worked as an associate editor on acclaimed films like Irudhi Sutru and Soorarai Pottru, is overseeing the film’s editing.
