I have nothing to do with the political party that my dad has started: Actor Vijay
The strain in actor Vijay’s relationship with his father S A Chandrasekar has become public with the actor distancing himself from his dad’s political party
The strain in the relationship between actor Vijay, who enjoys a susbstantial fan following in the southern part of India, and his father director S A Chandrasekar became obvious on Thursday after actor Vijay put out a statement categorically distancing himself from the political party that his father S A Chandrashekar has just started.
In a hard-hitting statement in Tamil, Vijay said, “I learnt today through media reports that my father S A Chandrashekhar has started a political party. I wish to state to my fans and the public that I am in no way connected with this political party, directly or indirectly.
“I also wish to state that any future political moves that he (S A Chandrashekar) makes will not be binding on me. I request my fans not to enroll themselves in this political party or work for it for the sake of it having been started by my dad. Let me make it clear that there is no connection whatsoever between that party and our movement.
“Moreover, I will initiate appropriate proceedings against them if they use or associate either my name, pictures or the name of my All India Vijay People’s Movement in any of their dealings.”
The actor’s statement has triggered a lot of excitement in film circles in Tamil Nadu.
