Minister hints at action against Sarkar’s makers for inciting violence against government!

Tamil Nadu Law Minister C V Shanmugam has said that legal action will be initiated against the makers of the recently-released Vijay-starrer Sarkar as it allegedly had sequences that incited the masses to turn violent against the government.

Talking to reporters after a discussion with the party’s office bearers in the Thiruporur constituency, Shanmugam said, “Sarkar has a sequence in which a person is sworn in as the Chief Minister of the state in three hours. It is condemnable that those who have stolen the story from somebody else and made a film, insult the government.”

The minister further said,”Everybody has the right to criticise the government. But the film has sequences in which free goods provided by the government are thrown in the fire. This appears to be a move to incite violence among the people. They seem to have made such sequences on somebody’s instigation. We will initiate action against the film’s producer, actor Vijay and the theatres that screened this film.”

Meanwhile, another minister of the government, Kadambur Raju demanded that those sequences that were controversial in nature be removed from the film.

Talking to reporters in Ettayapuram, Raju said, “We have received information that the film Sarkar has controversial sequences that are aimed at criticising the Tamil Nadu government. They have included these sequences in the film for political reasons. People will not accept this. It is not good for Vijay, who is growing as an actor.”

“We will consult the Chief Minister on this issue. We will advise the filmmakers to remove those scenes. If they do not remove the scenes they are advised to remove, we will discuss and finalise our next move.”
