Chennai, Nov 24 (COIN) One of Tamil cinema’s veteran actors, Nasser, says director Andrew Louis, best known for having directed the superhit crime thriller ‘Kolaigaran’, is a soft but firm taskmaster who is adamant on getting what he wants.

Participating in the trailer launch of director Andrew Louis’s first web series, ‘Vadhandhi -The fable of Valonie’, which is to stream on the OTT platform Prime Video from December 2 this year, Nasser, who has been a part of this series, said, “Andrew is a director who is adamant. While delivering dialogues, he would expect you to deliver exactly what has been penned in the script. Not even a letter can be changed in it.”

Stating that he had also been a part of the director’s earlier film, ‘Kolaigaran’, Nasser said, “Right on the first day of that project, there was a small disagreement between him and me with regard to dialogue delivery. I changed a few words because that came naturally to me but Andrew, with a gentle smile, would firmly insist that we deliver exactly what had been penned in the script.”

Nasser said that he had got the opportunity to work in a few films of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Kalignar Karunanidhi and pointed out that there was an unwritten rule that people would have to deliver verbatim the dialogues the former Chief Minister had penned.

However, he found it easier to change a few words. So, one day, he sought permission from the Chief Minister himself, asking if it would be okay if he changed a few words.

“The former Chief Minister said go ahead and change. Who says you have to deliver what I have written verbatim? Just make sure the intended meaning comes across correctly.”

Recalling this incident, Nasser said that even a great writer like Kalaignar was okay with actors changing a few words in their dialogues but pointed out that Andrew was not okay with it.

On the other hand, the actor also mentioned that he admired Andrew for his professional nature.

“Every single shot in which I acted in this series is there in the final output. Every shot that every actor has been a part of is there in the series. He would never choose to take unnecessary shots as a back up. He knew exactly what he wanted and was a thorough professional. It is a quality I admire in him,” Nasser said.

Vadhandhi, which has S J Suryah playing the lead, is an investigative crime thriller which also features Laila, Smruthi Venkat, Vivek Prasanna and Kumaran Thangarajan of ‘Pandian Stores’ fame among others.
