Chennai, Nov 15 (COIN) Veteran actor Krishna, who is also the father of Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu, passed away early this morning at a private hospital in Hyderabad after suffering a cardiac arrest.
He was 79.
The actor had been keeping unwell for some time and had been admitted to the hospital after facing respiratory issues.
The death of the veteran actor, who was renowned for having heralded a number of firsts in Telugu cinema, is being seen as a big blow to Telugu Superstar Mahesh Babu, who lost his mother just a month ago and his elder brother earlier this year.
Superstar Krishna is considered a trendsetter in Telugu cinema. His film ‘Gudachari-116’ is considered to be the first James Bond film in Telugu. ‘Mosagalliki Mosagaadu’, which happens to be the first cowboy film in Telugu, again featured Krishna in the lead.
The first Telugu film to feature Eastman colour was again one of Krishna’s films. It was called ‘Eenadu’. His ‘Simhasanam’ was the first 70 MM film in Telugu and his ‘Alluri Seetha Ramaraju’ was the first cinemascope film made in Telugu.
