Actress Sridevi no more!

One of Indian cinema’s brightest stars, Sridevi, faded away late on Saturday night.

Yes, actress Sridevi, arguably one of the greatest stars to have ruled both the south and the north Indian film industries, passed away in the UAE after she suffered a massive cardiac arrest on Saturday night.

She was 54.

Sridevi’s husband and producer Boney Kapoor and her younger daughter Khushi were with her in her final moments.

The actress along with her family had gone to attend actor Mohit Marwah’s wedding in the UAE when she suffered the heart attack.

Several stars and celebrities from film industries across the country expressed shock and disbelief on getting to know about the death of the actress, who began her career in the Tamil film industry and then later, went on to rule Bollywood.

Born in Sivakasi, Sridevi has acted in several films with the two top stars of Tamil Nadu, Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan.

She first made an appearance as a child artiste when she was four years old in the Tamil film Kandhan Karunai in 1969. She was however introduced as an actress by director K Balachander in Moondru Mudichu in Tamil.

Sridevi, who has won several awards including awards by several state governments, was honoured with the Padma Shri in the year 2013.
