Sindhu Arunraja Kamaraj passes away

Director Arunraja Kamaraj’s wife Sindhuja passed away today after fighting a long and hard battle against the dreaded Corona virus.

She was just 38.

Sindhuja, who was admitted to the Ramachandra Medical Hospital a few days ago after being afflicted by the virus, passed away in the early hours of today.

Sindhuja has been an integral part of the life of Arunraja Kamaraj, who made his debut in the film industry by doing small roles in films like Raja Rani, Maan Karate, Remo and Maragatha Naanayam. He went on to become a lyricist, writing songs for hit films like Theri, Kaakhi Sattai, Kabali and Kaala.

He then turned director with Kanaa, featuring Aishwarya Rajesh in the lead. The film went on to become a superhit, catapulting Arunraja into the limelight. All through, his wife was a solid pillar of support to the director.

The death of Sindhuja has left Kollywood rattled and shaken.

Several music directors and actors from the film industry have expressed shock and grief on getting to know the news.

Music director Santhosh Narayanan, who has been close friends with the couple for over two decades, said, “I have known my dear friends Arunraja and his wife Sindhu for close to 20 years. I have seen them gloriously fight through many challenges together and it is devastating to know that Sindhu is no more. She was a child at heart and so is Arunraja. Sindhu will always be his guiding light. We will miss her playfulness, her unconditional love towards pets, her towering support to Arunraja and her hilarious wit. Goodbye my dear sister and friend Sindhu. You will have a special place in heaven. I kindly plead all of you to stay indoors as much as possible and have everyone in your thoughts and prayers. We will get out of this challenge soon.”
