Here’s what the first look poster of Vijay’s Mersal tells about the film!

Vijay’s upcoming film with director Atlee has been titled Mersal.

The first look and title were released by the actor on social media at six pm on the eve of his birthday.

Almost instantly, fans retweeted and shared the first look picture making the topic trend and soon, Mersal was trending at No 5 in the World list.

The film has huge expectations riding on it for it has a number of top stars working on it.

Written and directed by Atlee, the film has music by A R Rahman and features Samantha, Kajal Aggarwal, Nithya Menon, S J Suryah, Sathyaraj, Vadivelu and Sathyan among others.

The film, which will have its audio released in August, is scheduled to be released in October.

The first look poster, which has Vijay sporting a handsome rural look, has bulls in the background. That and the manner in which the title of the film has been showcased, led to widespread speculation if whether Mersal will be about the issues and problems of farmers and also Jallikattu. Also, what strengthened this theory was the fact that the actor had, in an awards ceremony recently, said that he was pained to see farmers suffering.

Interestingly, one thing that most people failed to take note in the first look is that Vijay has opted for a new title in this film. Until now, Vijay was popularly referred to as Ilayathalapathy by his fans. However, the first look poster of Mersal has Vijay’s title as Thalapathy instead of Ilayathalapathy. Now, that is a development that is bound to catch the attention of political analysts in the state.
