Kamal salutes Kerala CM for move to appoint non-brahmins as priests

Kamal has said that the move by the Kerala government has helped realise Periyar’s dream

Actor Kamal Haasan has hailed the move of the Kerala government, led by its Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, in appointing 36 non-brahmins including six dalits as priests.

Kamal took to Twitter to express his thoughts on the development that breaks away from tradition.

The actor said, “Bravo Travancore Dewasom board. Salute to Kerala CM Mr. Pinarayi Vijayan for appointing 36 non-Brahmin priests. Periyar’s dream realized.”

This is not the first time that the actor has come out with a statement that reflects his admiration for the Chief Minister of the neighbouring state. In fact, it may be recalled that the actor had even called on the Kerala Chief Minister at his official residence on the occasion of Onam.

At a time when Kamal has announced that he will be launching his own party, many are wondering if his party will join hands with the Left to fight elections. This recent statement of the actor is bound to further strengthen such doubts.
