Kamal unfurls party flag, announces party name as Makkal Needhi Maiam

Actor Kamal Haasan on Wednesday announced the name of his party as Makkal Needhi Maiam. The name when translated in English means Peoples Justice Centre (or Peoples Justice Party).

He also unfurled his party flag, which has a series of white and red hands holding each other with a star in the centre on a white flag.

The actor, who arrived at the Madurai Othakadai venue at around 7.30 pm along with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejiriwal in his car, first unfurled his party flag even as loud cheers rent the air.

The actor, who took stage soon after, wasted no time in announcing the name of his party.

The actor then told his fans and the huge gathering that this was not a one-day celebration and that they have a lot of responsibilities from now on.

The actor said that he had only provided a grain as sample of the people’s power they were about to cook.

“Can you touch this grain? If your corruption-tainted hands so much as touch this grain, your fingers will get scalded,” he said, much to the delight of his followers and fans, who roared their appreciation.
