Kerala High court grants bail to Dileep

It may be recalled that Dileep, prior to today, had applied for bail on four other occasions and that all his bail pleas until now had been turned down by the courts.

Actor Dileep, who has been arrested for allegedly masterminding the kidnap and sexual assault of a popular south Indian actress, on Tuesday heaved a sigh of relief as the Kerala High Court finally granted him bail in the sensational case that has been garnering attention ever since it first broke out.

It may be recalled that Dileep had applied for bail four times before today’s plea and that on all four earlier occasions, his pleas had been turned down by the courts.

Although the Court has granted bail to the actor, it has also imposed several conditions. First, he will have to provide a bond for Rs 1 lakh. He will also have to surrender his passport and present himself before the investigating team whenever they want him for questioning. The actor has also been asked not to try to influence or interfere in the course of the investigation of the case.

The actor, who was arrested on July 10, had been lodged in the Aluva sub jail, where he spent 85 days in custody.

The news is bound to come as a huge relief to the actor, who has had to face a tumultous time ever since he was arrested in connection with the case.
