My brother was threatened, says actor Anand Raj

Well known Tamil actor Anandraj has said that there was evidence to suggest that his brother Kanagasabathy, who had consumed poison and ended his life on Thursday in Pondicherry, had been receiving threats.

Talking to mediapersons, a distraught Anandraj trashed rumours doing the rounds that his younger brother had committed suicide because of the losses he had suffered in the moneylending business.

“He had lent money to many people and there are several people who owe him money. So, that is not the reason. We have found a suicide letter that runs into four pages. My brother has named certain people in it. We have submitted all the documents to the police and are confident that they will do the needful,” the actor said.

When asked if the threats had emanated from political circles, the actor refused to comment. The actor said that his brother had recently purchased a house in Pondicherry and that the threats that he had been receiving pertained to it.

Meanwhile, people who had invested money in Kanagasabapathy’s money lending business approached actor Anandraj and raised concerns about their money. The actor made it clear that he wasn’t aware of the details of his brother’s business and that the family had submitted all the documents to the police and that they would sort out the matter.

The Pondicherry police have registered a case and are investigating.
