Nadigar Sangam to stage protest demanding CMB, closure of Sterlite plant on April 8

The South Indian Artistes Association better known as the Nadigar Sangam has announced that it will organise a major protest on April 8 to press two public demands.

In a statement, the Nadigar Sangam said that the protest would be to support Tamil Nadu’s demand for the constitution of the Cauvery Water Management Board and for the closure of the Sterlite Copper Plant in Thoothukudi.

The protest, which is to be held at the Valluvar Kottam in Chennai, will be between 8 in the morning and 1 and in the afternoon.

Sources in the film industry say that the entire Tamil film industry will be there to show their support to both causes and to express solidarity with the people of the state.

A source says, “You can expect people from all the 24 crafts associated with the film industry to congregate at the protest. Many top stars including Kamal Haasan have already confirmed their participation.”
