Rajinikanth undergoes surgery

Tamil superstar Rajinikanth, who underwent a surgery this morning, is recovering well, his doctors have said.

The immensely popular actor, whose health condition has been fragile in recent times, was admitted to the Cauvery hospital late last night after he complained of giddiness.

His admission to the hospital triggered concern among fans and members of the film fraternity.

However, doctors administering treatment to Rajinikanth have said that the surgery that was performed this morning was a success and that the actor is recovering well.

In a bulletin, Cauvery hospital said, “Mr Rajinikanth was admitted in Kauvery Hospital, Chennai yesterday following an episode of giddiness. He was thoroughly evaluated by an expert panel of doctors and advised to undergo Carotid Artery revascularisation.

“The procedure was performed successfully today and he is recovering well. He is likely to be discharged from the hospital after a few days.”

Carotid endarterectomy is a surgical procedure that removes plaque from the inside of your carotid artery in order to restore normal blood flow to your brain. A surgeon will make an incision on your neck, access the affected artery, open it, and remove the plaque buildup. The surgeon will then close the artery and incision using stitches.
