Actor Rajinikanth has clarified that a letter, suggesting that he was hesitant to take the plunge into politics because of his poor health, was actually not his statement.

The actor, who issued a clarification on Twitter, said, “A letter claimed to have been written by me is fast spreading across digital media and social media platforms. Everybody knows that it is not my statement. However, the details it contains pertaining to my health condition and the advice given by my doctors are all true. I will consult the office-bearers of my Rajini Makkal Mandram and announce my political stand to the people at an appropriate time.”

The communique, which seems to have compelled Rajini to issue the statement, first began doing the rounds on What’s App on the night of October 26.

It appeared to be a message for his close confidantes, in a way apprising them of the situation and also seeking their feedback on his decision to delay his entry into politics.

The letter suggested that Rajinikanth was hesitant to take the plunge into politics this year because of two medical reasons. The first one was that he had had a renal transplant in the US in the year 2016 and getting into politics with such a fragile health condition when a pandemic had broken out wasn’t ideal. The next reason was that doctors had pointed out to him that a vaccine for Covid-19 hadn’t been found out yet.

The letter looks to give the impression that Rajini’s decision to postpone his plunge into politics was not because he feared for his life but because he was concerned about causing problems to the political process, should his health deteriorate half way through.
