Rattled by mishap, director Shankar announces financial aid of Rs One crore to victims families

Director Shankar, who was visibly shaken by the accident on the sets of his Indian 2 which left 3 people dead and over 10 injured, has announced a sum of Rs One crore from his side as financial aid to the families of those killed in the mishap.

In a statement, the director said, “I have still not come to terms with the shock, pain and the trauma caused by the accident on the sets of Indian 2. I am trying to…

“It was just a month ago that Krishna joined me as an assitant director. His death has left me shaken. Getting a good assistant director is difficult. Managing to gain a grasp of such a huge project in such a short time, Krishna did wonderful work.  It is my misfortune that my happiness at having got a good assistant director did not last for long. The visuals I witnessed at his home the other day when his mother mourned his loss are still vivid in my memory and refuse to leave me. They torture me.

“I was literally broken when I saw in the mortuary, the body of Madhu, a dear production boy who would often help me out by providing tea, coffee, biscuits and water as and when I needed them.
“My sorrow became unbearable on getting to know that Chandran of the Art Department had eagely joined work only this schedule. He had come on getting to know that he would get work for a month on the sets.

“I continue to suffer unable to digest the accident that occurred despite several safety measures and precautions having been taken.

“More than having escaped death by a whisker, the thought that they were killed is tormenting me. When I see the pain and the suffering of the families of those who suffered injuries and those who were killed in the accident, I wish the crane and fallen on me instead.

“I express my deepest condolences to the families of Krishna, Madhu and Chandran. No matter how much help we accord to those families, it cannot equal the lives that they have lost. However, hoping to help these families in some small way, I intend to present the families of those affected with a sum of Rs One Crore.

“I pray that that they come out of this painful situation as soon as possible.”
