I have been receiving death threats, says actress Shammu; Lodges police complaint against Meera Mithun
Actress Shalu Shammu has filed a police complaint against actress Meera Mithun, stating that her supporters had been issuing death threats to her.
Model, actress and dancer Shalu Shammu has filed a police complaint against actress and well known feminist Meera Mithun, stating that her supporters had been issuing death threats to her.
Talking to mediapersons after lodging the complaint, Shammu said, “I had spoken out in support of actor Vijay’s wife Sangeetha and actor Suriya’s wife Jyothika when actress Meera Mithun targetted them on social media. This irked her and she put out tweets, opposing me. I replied to her tweets. After that, there have been no tweets from her but soon after, she behaved in a way that proves that she was indeed a mafia person.”
The actress, who was accompanied by her legal counsel and her supporters, said, that during the last three-four days, she had been receiving death threats from people supporting Meera Mithun.
“I have received over 10 calls. She herself is a mafia. This has been clearly established by the calls I have been receiving.” says Shalu Shamu.
Stating that initially she mistook the calls to be ordinary prank calls, the actress said that she started taking them seriously only after the callers specifically told her that they wouldn’t hesitate to even kill her if she didn’t stop tweeting against Meera Mithun, using the hashtag #Mafia.
“That scared me. She needs only publicity. She isn’t worried if it good publicity or bad publicity. For her, this appears to be a game,” the young actress said.
But why was Meera Mithun targetting Shammu in particular, especially when so many other people including director Bharathiraja and lyricist Vairamuthu had condemned her recent videos?
“Two companies have removed Meera Mithun from their modelling assignments after allegations were levelled against her. These companies then chose Shammu as a model for their projects. This seems to have irked the actress and has now led to this problem,” Shammu’s legal consultant said.
