Maanaadu release postponed

Director Venkat Prabhu’s eagerly awaited Maanaadu, featuring actor Simbu in the lead, has pulled out of the Deepavali race.

Yes, the film will not release for Deepavali along with Rajinikanth’s Annathe and Vishal’s Enemy, as announced before.

Instead, the film will hit screens on November 25, its producer V House Productions Suresh Kamatchi announced in a statement today.

Maanaadu, the producer said, had been completed with the intention of releasing for Deepavali. However, he clarified that there was no intention to compete with anybody else.

“The idea behind originally planning to release Maanaadu for Deepavali was that people have this tendency to go watch more than one film on a festival day. So, we initially thought we would release the film on Deepavali.

“I never think of releasing a film with the intention of making it compete with another. Thoughts on those lines wouldn’t make one business savvy,” he clarified.

The producer said that Maanaadu had come out really well and that he had immense faith on it.

“I did have an intention of releasing it for the festival but then, those who have signed business deals with me, placing great faith in me, shouldn’t be affected. Similarly, distributors and those who have financed the film’s release must earn profits and not suffer losses.

“Why must my film and its victory suffer for the sake of a few resons? Therefore, Maanaadu’s release has slightly been postponed. The film will now release on November 25,” he announced.
