Yes, Santhanakrishnan, the father of IT professional Swathi, whose murder put the spotlight back on women’s safety in public spaces, has filed a complaint with the police asking that they stop the film based on his daughter’s murder from being made.
The retired Central government employee met the DGP on Wednesday and filed a complaint in which he is believed to have said that if the film Swathi Kulai Vazhakku releases, his family would have to suffer emotional hardship.
The film, the trailer of which was released recently, is being directed by Ramesh Selvan. It features actor Ajmal as police inspector Shankar and newcomers Aayira and Mano as Swathi and Ramkumar respectively.
Swathi was murdered in broad daylight at the Nungambakkam railway station, where she was waiting to take a train to her office. The murder sent shock waves across the nation.
