Ajay Kapoor Productions, the production house of producer Ajay Kapoor who is producing actor John Abraham’s upcoming film Attack, has bagged the Hindi remake rights of the critically acclaimed Tamil blockbuster 96, which featured Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha in the lead.
96, which won the hearts of scores of fans all across south India for the realistic manner in which it showcased romance from a man’s perspective, was directed by Prem and had music by Govind Vasantha.
Soon after making an announcement that he had bought the Hindi remake rights of 96, producer Ajay Kapoor said, “96 was a heartwarming, light-hearted romantic tale that received humongous love from the audience. The story breaks the barriers beyond the bounds of language and region, which prompted me to remake the film in Hindi for the national audience. I am actively working on developing the right script for the narrative along with the director and the right kind of star cast. Once we finalize everything, I would soon like to make the official announcement of the cast and crew.”
Vijay Sethupathi, who played the lead and around whom the story revolves, also reacted to the announcement.
He said, “As an actor, it gives me immense joy to tell stories which strike a chord with the audience, the happiness is further elevated when it reaches a wider audience. ’96’ has been a lovely experience for me, now as Producer Ajay Kapoor takes this journey ahead with the Hindi remake,I wish him all the best! Can’t wait.”
