When Chennaiites came to Mahima’s rescue!

Actress Mahima Nambiar, whose Iravikku Aayiram Kangal is doing exceptionally well in theatres, believes Chennai is a very safe place for women.

The reason why she has arrived at such a decision is because of an experience she had while shooting for the film.

Recounts Mahima, “As the story of Iravikku Aayiram Kangal happens in the night, all our shoots would only be in the night.

“Once, we were shooting at around 2 or 3 in the morning. The stretch that we were shooting in Kodambakkam was deserted. The scene that was being shot was that of a cab driver misbehaving with me.

“For the shot, the entire crew was hidden. Only the cab driver and I were on the stretch. The scene began. The cab driver was pretending to misbehave with me when some people happened to pass by. They immediately stopped to see what was happening. They intervened and swiftly came to my rescue. They were so forceful that they were almost on the verge of giving the driver a sound thrashing.

“I was scared for the safety of my co-artiste. Thankfully, the crew ran out just in time and explained to them that we were shooting a film and that all of it was just acting.”
