Actress case: A new lawyer for Dileep?

Reports doing the rounds in the industry suggest that actor Dileep, who has been arrested in connection with a case pertaining to the kidnap and sexual assault of a popular south Indian actress, has opted for a new lawyer.

The actor, who wields a lot of clout in the Malayalam film industry, had until now been represented by advocate Ramkumar.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that the actor has now employed senior advocate Ramanpillai to represent him in the case in the High Court.

It may be recalled that the actor was denied bail twice — first by a court in Angamaly and next by the Kerala High Court. Ideally, the actor must have next headed to the Supreme Court to present his case and apply for bail. But then, sources suggest that the actor had been advised against doing so as both the earlier courts had made some strong observations while dismissing his bail plea. Dileep has therefore chosen to approach the High Court again and this time, he is to be represented by Ramanpillai.
