Arrest Kamal Haasan, Bigg Boss participants, says HMK

The HMK has filed a complaint with the Police Commissioner in Chennai in this regard

The Hindu Makkal Katchi has lodged a complaint with the Tamil Nadu police demanding a ban on the television show Bigg Boss and the arrest of all the show’s participants, including the show’s host, actor Kamal Haasan.

The outfit made these demands as it claimed the show was destroying Indian culture and tradition.

In a complaint that was presented to the Police Commissioner this morning, the Hindu Makkal Katchi said, “Indians give utmost importance to respect and dignity. Television programmes and films continue to be made with the intention of destroying Indian culture and tradition. The height of this is the show Bigg Boss, which is being telecast on Vijay TV.”

The party, in its complaint, further said that seven men and seven women, who are in no way connected, were participating in this show. The HMK alleged that the participants were speaking and acting in an obscene fashion in the show.

It claimed that at a time when television was being watched by everybody — from youngsters to the elderly — such programmes would increase evils that destroy society.

The HMK took exception to the fact that the programme featured scenes that made fun of even the Tamizh Thai Vazhthu, a song for which all Tamilians had high regard as it was in praise of the Tamil language. This had hurt the sentiments of seven crore Tamils, the complaint letter claimed.

Therefore, the HMK demanded that the show’s host, Kamal Haasan and its participants — Namitha, Oviya, Gayathri Raghuram, Julie, Harathi, Raiza, Ganja Karuppu, Vaiyapuri, Sakthi, Arul, Dharani, Snehan and Ganesh be arrested and the show be banned immediately.
