My first impression of Hiphop Tamizha was that he was arrogant: Sundar C

Today, however, Sundar C says Aadhi is now a brother to him…

Actor-director-producer Sundar C on Tuesday recounted how the now famous music director Aadhi, better known as Hiphop Tamizha, was when he first met him.

Participating in the press conference called by the team of Meesaya Murukku, Sundar C, who is also the producer of the film through which Aadhi makes his debut as both hero and director in Tamil cinema, said, “Around four years ago, I met a young guy in a pair of dirty jeans, who was totally unmindful of where the world was heading. It was Aadhi. I hadn’t met Aadhi prior to that meeting. My first impression of him was that this kid was a rich bloke who had lots of money and with that, he’d made a music album. In short, I thought he was arrogant and showed too much attitude.

“Why I had chosen to meet Aadhi then was because I was directing a film called Aambala then. I had an intention to launch five music directors in that film. I had wanted to give five talented youngsters a song each. We had already chosen three people then. Aadhi was the fourth person on that list.

“When we met, the first thing Aadhi told me was, ‘Anna, please come to my studio and listen to my song. I don’t know if it was his good time or whether it was my good time, I chose to go. I say that because I am an exceptionally lazy person. I would not step out of my office usually. Luckily, Aadhi’s studio was on the street that was right next to the one on which my office is located. So, I went to his studio and he played the first song. That number was very good. After that, he kept playing song after song and I found them to be getting better and better. It was only then that Aadhi dropped a bomb. He said,”Anna, I will not score music for a single song. If I work on a project, I will work on all the songs.

“However, I liked his self-confidence. Also, there was an element of cleverness in what he had done. Had he said that he would want to compose music for all the songs at the beginning itself, I would have definitely said no. Instead, he first made me listen to all his songs and then after having attracted me, he put forth his demand. I spoke to Vishal who was the producer of the film. Both of us liked and that is how this Hip Hop Tamizha came into being,” Sundar C said.

Sundar C today considers Aadhi as a younger brother. He considers the young hero as family.

“Aadhi entered my life as a music director but then has now become a younger brother I never had,”Sundar C said and added, “Right from the beginning, Aadhi had that acting spark in him. I had even told during the audio launch of my film Aambala that I would launch Aadhi as a hero.”

The only problem, Sundar C said, was who would direct the film. That problem seems to have been resolved after Aadhi casually narrated this script to Sundar C, who liked it very much. “It was the story of this film. This film has a lot of imagination and a little bit of reality in it. Some real incidents that took place in Aadhi’s life are there in this film too. In fact, you could even call it his biography,” Sundar C said.

The film, which has newcomer Aathmika as the female lead, will also feature a host of other stars including Vivekh.
