Arun Vijay did all the risky stunts in Mission Chapter 1 himself: A L Vijay

Mission: Chapter 1, which also features Amy Jackson, Nimisha and Baby Iyal in lead roles, released along with two big films – director Arun Matheswaran’s Captain Miller, featuring Dhanush in the lead, and director Ravi Kumar’s Ayalaan, featuring Sivakarthikeyan in the lead, for Pongal this year.

Arun Vijay Thanks giving meet

Actor Arun Vijay, who has a reputation for giving it his all when it comes to acting in a film, chose to perform several risky stunts in his just-released film Mission: Chapter 1 himself.

“Instead of opting for a body double, Arun Vijay performed all the really risky stunts in the film himself,” the film’s director A L Vijay disclosed at a meeting organised to thank the media for the support they had given to the film, which has now emerged a success.

Talking to Cineobserver.in, Vijay said that while shooting one stunt in particular, he literally had his heart in his mouth.

“There is a fight sequence in which Arun Vijay jumps off a 40 feet prison wall to nab a fleeing convict. Another person jumps immediately after him to hold on to his legs and save him from crashing down. That was a risky stunt and what you see on screen is actually people doing it in real time. That was not CG,” says Vijay who is delighted that all that hard work has now paid off rich dividends.

“We had to shoot that shot around 12 to 13 times to get it right. Every time we shot that scene, I had my heart in my mouth. Not just me, Selva master, who choreographed the fight was also equally tense,” Vijay adds.

Despite the other two films doing well, the number of screens being allocated for Mission have consistently been on the rise because of the warm welcome audiences have accorded it.

“On the day of release, we did not get several screens. I don’t blame anyone for it because that is what happens when you have three good films releasing simultaneously. However, thanks to media reviews and positive word of mouth publicity, the number of screens for our film have steadily been increasing,” Vijay said.
