Director A L Vijay, who is known to be a master when it comes to making dad-daughter dramas, delivers yet another highly enjoyable entertainer that focuses as much on drama as it does on explosive action.

The story revolves around Gunasekaran (Arun Vijay), who hurriedly sells off all his possessions to find enough money to fund the operation of his dear little daughter Sana (Baby Iyal), who is battling blood clots in her brain.

The surgery has to be performed in a hospital in London in a couple of days and Gunasekaran’s funds in the bank will take over 10 days to get wired there. So, he chooses to opt for the Hawala route. He pays 30 lakhs to people here, who give him a particular Rs 10 note and ask him to show it to certain people in the UK to get the equivalent of the sum there.

Guna leaves for the UK with his daughter and the Rs 10 note. In the UK, an attempt is made to steal the Rs 10 note and Guna is left with no option but to use violence to defend himself. However, he gets arrested for public nuisance.

Inside the prison, Guna is anxious to get to the hospital his daughter has been admitted to as he is yet to pay the money for her surgery. It is at this point that the prison where he is being held prisoner comes under the control of dreaded terrorists. What happens then is what Mission: Chapter 1 is all about.

Arun Vijay does a stellar job of playing Gunasekaran. Like in all his other previous films, Arun Vijay’s commitment to acting comes across in this film too as he delivers a near perfect performance.

The fight sequences in particular are outstanding. Stunt Master Stunts Silva and his boys must be congratulated for having delivered some outstanding stunts in this film.

Arun Vijay, who is already known for having delivered one of Tamil cinema’s finest fights in Magizh Thirumeni’s Thadayara Thaaka, delights fans and audiences with yet another fantastic fight sequence in this film. The fight sequence I am referring to happens in a bus in the UK. It is realistic and gripping and wins your appreciation hands down.

Amy Jackson, who was first introduced to Tamil cinema by A L Vijay, makes a good comeback to the Tamil screens with this film.

Nimisha Vijayan plays her part with conviction and is another strong point of the film.

But more than Nimisha, it is the cute little Iyal, who plays Arun Vijay’s daughter, who impresses. The bond between dad and daughter wins your heart despite not being as intense or as significant as the dad-daughter bond in Vijay’s earlier film, ‘Deiva Thirumagal’.

G V Prakash’s music and Sandeep K Vijay’s cinematography are both big pluses for this film, which is a clean, perfect action entertainer that can be enjoyed with the entire family.
