I am scared of spirits: Arya

Actor Arya, who plays the lead in the horror-comedy Aranmanai 3, says he is so scared of spirits that he has never even watched a horror film

Actor Arya, who plays the lead along with Raashi Khanna, Andrea Jeremiah and Sakshi Aggarwal in the horror-comedy Aranmanai 3, which releases on October 14, says he is scared of spirits and has never even watched a horror film in his life!

“I received a call from director Sundar C one afternoon, who asked me if we could meet. When I went to his place, he told me that he was making the third part of the immensely popular Aranmanai franchise and that he wanted me to be a part of the film,” Arya said at a press conference called by the Aranmanai 3 team on Sunday.

“I immediately confessed that I was so scared of spirits that I had not even watched a horror film so far and therefore had doubts if I could pull the role off,” he added.

Actor Arya said it was director Sundar C who gave him the confidence to play the lead role in a horror film.

“It was Sundar sir who told me that I could play the role convincingly. He asked me to ensure that I kept my chin down and opened my eyes wide while playing the character,” Arya said, adding that the cameraman of the film, Senthil, made special efforts to light the shots in such a way that the focus was on his eyes.

“Although we shot from 7 in the morning till 10 in the night for Aranmanai 3 every single day, we never felt the strain as the entire experience was enjoyable, thanks to Sundar sir,” Arya said.

The actor confesses that he is still scared of spirits and is averse to horror movies.
