Asuran is Vetrimaaran’s finest film, says Dhanush!
Actor Dhanush, who is close friends with director Vetrimaran and who has delivered several blockbusters under his direction, has said that Asuran, his upcoming film that also features Manju Warrier in the lead, is Vetrimaran’s best film.
Participating in the audio launch of Asuran, which has music by G V Prakash Kumar, Dhanush said, “As far as this film is concerned, the key word is trust. The trust that I have in producer Kalaipuli S Thanu, the trust that I have in director Vetrimaran and the trust that he has in me.”
The actor expressed confidence that the film would appeal to audiences and fans.
“Asuran is Vetrimaran’s finest film. We as a team have stopped having expectations. Wherever we go, people like you keep asking why is it that Vada Chennai hasn’t been awarded a National Award? The fact that it has made people like you expect an Award for it is what matters. Beyond that, we don’t require anything else.
“Cinematographer Velraj said that I was a little dejected. Yes, I was dejected. But then, it was not for me or Vetrimaran. We went and received it it 2010 itself. We are not greedy. Yes, we did feel bad but we felt bad not for ourselves but for Art director Jackson, who had done sucha fantastic job in Vada Chennai. We felt bad for Mari Selvaraj, who had made Pariyerum Perumal. We thought of Ram for Ratchasan and Lenin Bharathi’s Merku Thodarchi Malai. Otherwise, we never jump for joy when we win an award nor do we never writhe in pain when we don’t get them. We don’t make a film expecting awards. We work for audiences’ approval,” Dhanush said.
