Director Bala’s upcoming film, Naachiyaar, featuring Jyothika and music director and actor G V Prakash in the lead, will hit the screens on February 9, the film unit officially announced today.
Final touches to the film, which has music by Ilaiyaraaja and cinematography by Theni Eshwar, had been given, sources said and added that the film was well and truly ready. In fact, the film had also been cleared by the Censor Board, sources said, although they refused to disclose the certificate that has been granted to the film.
It may be recalled that a few months ago, when Suriya released a teaser of the film, it came in for flak as in the teaser, Jyothika was seen using some unparliamentary words. The whole teaser came in for widespread criticism on social media as a result of Jyothika’s dialogues.
Jyothika had then said that she did not wish to talk about the teaser as the controversy would come to an end and things would become evident if one watched the film. “Therefore, I do not wish to speak about it now,” the actress had said.
Now, with the unit officially announcing that the film would hit screens on February 9, fans and film buffs are eager to see the context in which the statements which triggered a furore were made.
The film, which has been produced by Bala’s B Studio’s, announced that Dr Kalidas’s Madhumathi films had acquired the film’s Theatrical rights for Tamil Nadu. The unit also said that the audio launch of the film would take place soon.
