Bharathirajaa joins race to make film on Jaya

At a time when two directors have already announced their decision to make a film on Jayalalithaa comes the news that veteran director Bharathirajaa too will be making a biopic on AIADMK Secretary and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.

The film is to be produced by Adithya Bharadwaj and will be titled Amma – Puratchi Thalaivi.

Interestingly, the team has plans to approach Ilaiyaraaja to score the music of this film.

If that happens, this film will gain even more significance as it has been a while since Bharathirajaa and Ilaiyaraaja stopped working together. Both veterans parted ways after a bitter fight and are at present, not even on talking terms.

It may be recalled that a number of films that the two legends have jointly worked on have gone on to either emerge as trendsetters or gone on to become classics.

It was director Vijay, known for having made movies like Madharasapattinam, Deiva Thirumagal and Thalaivaa, who first announced that he would be making a film on the late leader. Produced by Brinda Prasad, the film will go on floors from February 24, Jayalalithaa’s birthday, next year. This team has plans of approaching Vidya Balan to play Jaya.

Immediately after Vijay made this announcement, a lady director called Priyadarshini announced that she had four scripts ready on Jayalalithaa and that she too would be making a film on the late AIADMK Supremo.

Priyadarshini claimed that each of the scripts focussed on a separate aspect of Jaya’s life.

All three teams seem to be going on with their plans to make a film on Jaya. Interestingly though, none of the teams so far seem to have got the required permission of the immediate family members of the person on whose life they are seeking to make a film.
