Bharathirajaa resigns as president of Tamil Nadu Film Directors’ Union

In a surprise development, veteran director Bharathirajaa today announced that he was resigning from the post of the president of the Tamil Nadu Film Directors’ Union.

It may be recalled that the veteran director had been elected unopposed only last month.

In statement issued this morning, Bharathirajaa said that he was thankful to all the directors, assistant directors, co-directors and associate directors who had elected him unanimously.

However, he said he had come to realise the difficulties of a person who had been elected unopposed. Therefore, to facilitate the process of electing a president democratically, he said he was tendering his resignation.

The director said that he would continue to provide his wisdom and guidance for the growth of the organisation and for the welfare of its members. He also made clear that his love for the organisation would continue.
