Cocktail producer P G Muthiah tenders unconditional apology after controversy erupts over film’s first look poster!

A major controversy has erupted over the first look poster of  Cocktail, which features comedian Yogi Babu in the lead.

The unit released the First Look poster of the film yesterday which had Yogi Babu dressed as the Tamil God, Lord Murugan, and the name of the film, Cocktail written on it. This offended several people and they took to social media to express their displeasure.

Seeking to end the controversy that has erupted, the producer of the film, P G Muthiah has issued a statement in which he has tendered an unconditional apology to anybody who has been offended by the poster.

In his statement, Muthiah says that the reason they chose to name the film Cocktail was because the film features an Australian bird called the  Cocktail.The title was given based on the recommendation of the director, he clarified.

The producer also went on to point out that the film has a scene in which Lord Murugan appears in the dream of Yogi Babu. The image that was released in the poster was that image, he said.

Clarifying that these sudden developments had completely taken them by surprise also, the producer said that , “we did not, even for a second, do this to insult our Lord Murugan or hurt the sentiments of devotees and people. That was not our intention also.”

Our film does not feature any scenes or dialogues that are disrespectful to religions, he said and added that he was tendering an unconditional apology to anyone who might have been hurt by  the posters.

The producer also gave an assurance that such a poster would never be used in his film’s publicity ever again.
