Court grants divorce to Soundarya Rajinikanth
The couple had applied for divorce by mutual consent in December last year
Soundarya Rajinikanth, the younger daughter of Superstar Rajinikanth, and her husband Ashwin Ramkumar were granted divorce by a family court in Chennai.
It may be recalled that Ashwin had wed Soundarya in a star-studded ceremony in 2010. The couple have a son from their marriage.
According to sources, the couple separated due to a difference of opinion and started living separately a few months ago.
They filed for divorce by mutual consent in a family court in Chennai in December last year.
In their plea, they said they had parted ways due to a difference of opinion and that despite the best efforts of the elders in the family, they hadn’t been able to overcome their differences. Therefore, they sought divorce by mutual consent.
Last month, the two had appeared before the Principal Family Court judge Maria Clete and had affirmed their decision to go ahead with the divorce.
The judge, on Tuesday, passed the decree of divorce.
