FIR filed against Mani Ratnam and other celebs for raising concern over mob killing!
A First Information Report has been filed against director Mani Ratnam and almost 50 other celebrities from across the nation for raising concerns over growing incidents of mob killing in the country.
It may be recalled that a lawyer, Sudhir Kumar Ojha, had filed a petition in a court in Bihar stating that the open letter written by 50 celebrities from across the country to the Prime Minister raising concerns over the recent mob lynchings had tarnished the image of the country and “undermined the impressive performance of the prime minister” apart from supporting secessionist tendencies.
Chief Judicial Magistrate Surya Kant Tiwari, who heard the plea, passed an order accepting the petition. Based on the order, an FIR has been lodged against all the celebrities including director Mani Ratnam in Muzaffarpur under various sections of the IPC including those pertaining to sedition, public nuisance, hurting religious sentiments and insulting with the intention to provoke breach of peace.
