I would have fallen at Kamal’s feet: Rajinikanth

Actor Rajinikanth has disclosed that he was so full of admiration for Kamal Haasan after watching the film  Apoorva Sahodarargal, that he would have even ended up falling at his feet had it not been for the fact that he was older than Kamal.

Speaking at a function organised to mark the unveiling of director K Balachander’s bust at the revamped premises of actor Kamal Haasan’s Raaj Kamal Films International, Rajinikanth said, ” Apoorva Sahodarargal is among my favourite films that have been made my Raaj Kamal Films International. When that film released, I was not in station. I was outdoors, shooting for my film. When I returned, I wanted to watch that film.

“They made arrangements for me to watch the film at Minerva at 11pm. When I finished watching the film, it was 2 in the morning. I told my wife that I want to meet Kamal straightaway. She said that it was too late and that people would be sleeping at that point. I however, did not listen.

“So, we went at 2.30 in the morning to wake him up. I shook his hands. At that point, I told him that he was younger to me in age and that is why I was not falling at his feet. I told him,’You have become immortal.’ At that point, technology hadn’t developed as much as it has developed today. The amount of effort that he put in to play the dwarf’s character in the film is phenomenal,” Rajini said.

The actor also said that he had watched Hey Ram, close to 30 or 40 times because that was also among one of his top three favourites.
