Even as the entire state of Tamil Nadu buzzed with excitement over Rajinikanth’s announcement that he would be entering politics, his close friend and possibly a political rival, Kamal Haasan welcomed his decision to enter politics.
Taking to Twitter within minutes of Rajinikanth’s announcement that he would be launching a political party soon and that he would be contesting all 234 constituencies in Tamil Nadu, Kamal tweeted, “Sahodarar Rajiniyin Samooga Unarvukkum Arasiyal varugaikkum Vazhthukkal. Varuga, Varuga!” (Congratulations and wishes to brother Rajinikanth for his social concern and his political entry. Welcome! Welcome!)
Rajini, on December 31, announced at a meeting with fans his decision to contest the next Assembly elections in the state. He made it clear that he would announce his party once the announcement for the Assembly elections was made.
It may be recalled that Kamal Haasan, a few months ago, had announced his entry into politics and had made it clear that he would be launching a party of his own as well.
