Karthick Naren’s Naragasooran cleared for release; Gautham Menon’s name missing from posters
Director Karthick Naren’s much awaited film, Naragasooran, has been cleared by the Censor Board with a U/A certificate and with no cuts.
Sources say that the film has a run time of One hour and 50 minutes.
It may be recalled that the film was in the news after its director Karthick Naren and its producer, director Gautham Vasudev Menon ended up having a heated exchange over the delay in production. Both fired verbal shots at one another, after Karthick made public his unhappiness over the manner in which Gautham Menon was delaying the film’s production process.
In March this year, Karthick tweeted, “Sometimes a misplaced trust may kill you. People should think twice before taking it for a ride. The last thing you want to see is your passion getting butchered from all the directions for a mistake you did not commit. Threshold!”
Gautham hit back, saying, “While some young filmmakers whine about their passion getting butchered instead of growing a pair, here’s a young team that makes an interesting short about girls, women, cricket, CSK and liberation. What a http://connect.So very nicely done!”
Gautham’s retort came in for scathing criticism from many and Karthick himself was in no mood to let it pass.
He responded with a stronger tweet. Karthick said, “While everybody advised against it I had the pair to trust you & collaborate sir. In return we were treated like trash & made to invest on our own. I think its better to whine & confront instead of running away. Please don’t do this to any other young filmmaker sir. It hurts!”
Gautham then made amends by apologising to Karthick and by putting out a long post, that gave details of what had happened. Things then cooled down.
Now, news is that the film’s trailer is being cut and that the release date will be announced soon.
Interestingly, the new posters of the film that have been released do not have Gautham Menon’s name as producer nor do they have the name of Ondraaga Entertainment, his production house.
