No truth in reports claiming Rajini will sing in A R Rahman’s concert in Delhi !!!

Even as a section of the media continues to claim that actor Rajinikanth will sing in an A R Rahman concert in New Delhi, well known actress Madhuvanthi Arun, who is the promoter of the concert, has confirmed to CineObserver.in that no such activity is on the cards.

Talking to CineObserver.in, actress Madhuvanthi Arun, who is the daughter of veteran actor and playwright Y G Mahendra and the promoter of the Delhi event, said, “The event on December 23 at the Indira Gandhi Sports Complex in New Delhi will mark the final phase of Encore – The Concert. As part of the tour, Rahman ji has already performed in three cities. He has performed in Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Mumbai. Now, the fourth concert is to be held in Delhi.”

It may be recalled that Encore – The Concert is being held not only to mark the completion of 25 years of A R Rahman in the film industry but also to celebrate the wonderful music the gifted musician has given to his fans during this period.

Madhuvanthi, who is also the grand daughter of veteran playwright Y G Parthasarathy, and the person managing the Delhi leg of the concert, said that Rahman ji was performing this concert in Delhi as a felicitation and tribute to her grandfather, Y G Parthasarathy, who was also the founder of PSBB Schools. Interestingly, this year will mark the 100th birth anniversary of the veteran playright.

When asked if there was any truth in reports that Superstar Rajinikanth would be participating in the Delhi concert and singing, Madhuvanthi said, “Rajini uncle might be coming to the event but we do not have a confirmation yet. However, I can tell you that he will not be singing as is being reported.”
