Rajini’s 2.0 likely to hit screens in January, next year

Rajini’s much awaited magnum opus, 2.0, might release only next year.
The film, directed by Shankar, is being made at a cost of Rs 450 crores by Lyca and features Rajinikanth, Amy Jackson and Akshay Kumar in the lead.
The team first began shooting for 2.0 in 2015 and completed filming in August, 2017. At that point, the team announced that only postproduction work was left and that they had plans to release the film on Deepavali last year.
However, the team could not finish the CG work and decided to postpone the release of the film to January 25 this year.
Subsequently, the team announced that they were unable to complete the graphics work even by then and the film’s release was further pushed to April this year.
The team failed to meet this deadline too. With Rajini’s other film Kaala ready for release and with CG work still continuing, the team had no other option but to announce that 2.0 was being postponed, indefinitely.
At a time when fans were expecting Rajini’s 2.0 to release at least for this Deepavali, news has broken out that the team will be releasing the film only next year.
Says a source, “Thanks to the strike called by the Producers Council, the release of Kaala itself was pushed by a couple of months and it released only a few days ago. Under these circumstances, 2.0’s makers are seriously considering releasing the film in January next year.”
