Actor Siddharth, who has been raising his voice at the manner in which the BJP government in the centre has been handling the Covid crisis in the country, has claimed that his family members and he have now been subjected to a barrage of death and rape threats from members owing allegiance to the BJP’s IT cell.
Taking to Twitter, Siddharth said, “My phone number was leaked by members of TN BJP and @BJPtnITcell. Over 500 calls of abuse, rape and death threats to me & family for over 24 hrs. All numbers recorded (with BJP links and DPs) and handing over to Police.I will not shut up. Keep trying.”
The bold outspoken actor, who has done quality work in the Tamil, Telugu and Hindi film industries and is best known for his role in Rang De Basanti in Hindi, went on to tag Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah in this tweet that was highly critical of the actions of the BJP’s state unit.
The actor also went on to post a screen shot of a conversation between three individuals identified as Geetha Vasanth, Krishna Prasath and Uwais Meeran to show how his number had been leaked to abusers.
Along with the screenshot, he wrote, “This is one of many social media posts by BJP TN members leaking my number yesterday and telling people to attack and harass me.
“Ivan inimela vaaye thirakka koodathu” (this fellow must never open his mouth again) We might survive Covid. Will we survive these people?”
