Vijay calls on Anita’s family; Offers condolences

Actor Vijay travelled to Ariyalur district to meet the family members of late medical aspirant Anita

Actor Vijay, who has a huge fan base down south, on Monday visited the family of medical aspirant Anitha, who committed suicide after being denied a medical seat because of the NEET system.

Sources present on the occasion say that the actor visited Anita’s home in Kuzhumur village of Ariyalur district and offered his deepest condolences to the family members of the late medical aspirant.

Anitha’s death has triggered a storm in the state with students and a vast majority of the public demanding that Tamil Nadu be exempted from the NEET exam, which they claim puts students from the rural areas at a disadvantage.

Pictures of the actor sitting on the floor with the family members, trying to console them began making the rounds soon after the actor’s visit.

Several stars from the Tamil film industry have already expressed shock and pain at the demise of the bright student, who scored an impressive 1176 marks out of a possible 1200 in her plus two exams. These include Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan. Music director and actor G V Prakash and director Pa Ranjith, who is directing Superstar Rajinikanth’s Kaala after having directed him in Kabali, have already visited the family of the late student and expressed their condolences. Vijay is the third such star to call on the family of the poor girl.
