Actor Vijay, who had maintained a stoic silence in response to the BJP state unit’s demand for removing certain dialogues from his just released film Mersal, on Wednesday thanked all those who had stood by him during the controversy.
And the actor expressed his gratitude through a letter that had his complete name Joseph Vijay as its letter head.
The gesture is worthing taking note as BJP leader H Raja had, in an earlier tweet, had taken his complete name.
In the letter, Vijay said, “Mersal, which released for Deepavali, has recieved a good reception. It is running successfully with the appreciation of the people. The film, which has emerged to be a huge success, also faced some opposition. In response to this, my friends from the film industry, actors, actresses, directors, film bodies such as the South Indian Film Artistes association, Tamil Film Producers Council, National level political leaders, Heads of regional political parties, party representatives, friends from the media industry and my fans both male and female expressed huge support. I express my heartfelt gratitude to everybody for having supported the film and for having made it an overwhelming success.”
